Prospero Teaching is seeking inspirational tutors across Manchester to support students who have stepped away from mainstream education. Many children with SEND are disengaged, anxious or unsupported by schools.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, plan and deliver one‑to‑one, tailored lessons to close learning gaps and boost attainment.
  • Encourage and re‑engage pupils in their learning, offering structure to their daily routine and supporting their educational development.
  • Facilitate a smooth return to school, acting as a temporary replacement for school hours (five days a week).
  • Submit weekly progress reports to the Prospero team to monitor pupil development.

Contract and Position Details:

  • Location: various sites across Manchester
  • Position: Home Tutor (part‑time or full‑time, minimum 10 hours per week per student)
  • Start date: ASAP; duration until pupil reintegrates into mainstream or special school
  • Contract type: Temporary
  • Pay: £25 per hour (negotiable)
  • Working hours: flexible to accommodate family convenience

Qualifications:

  • QTS or equivalent classroom teaching qualification
  • UK classroom teaching experience preferred
  • PECS/Makaton training is preferable but not essential
  • Experience working with challenging behaviour and disengaged pupils

Eligibility:

  • Right to work in the UK
  • Enhanced child‑barred list DBS certificate, registered on the online update service or willing to apply for one
  • Two professional, child‑related references
