Salary: £35,000–£50,000 per annum dependant upon experience.
Our client is a multidisciplinary environmental consultancy looking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Ecologist with around 4–5 years’ experience (or equivalent). This role is primarily office based, with the opportunity to work from home 1–2 days per week. Candidates meeting 80% or more of the criteria are encouraged to apply. Transferable skills are welcomed, and both in‑house and external training is provided, including support with unfamiliar software.
Key Responsibilities- Planning, resourcing and undertaking ecological surveys, including protected species
- Producing high-quality reports, with opportunity to develop specialist expertise (e.g. EIA)
- Supporting project delivery, budgets and timescales
- Client liaison and technical input on survey requirements and mitigation
- Supporting business development and work winning
- Mentoring and supporting junior team members
- Ensuring health and safety compliance
- BSc in Ecology or similar (MSc Environmental qualification desirable)
- Associate CIEEM, or working towards membership
- Experience with PEA and UK Habitat Surveys, including complex sites
- Competence in protected species surveys (GCN, Dormouse; Bat licence desirable)
- Good knowledge of UK/EU legislation and planning policy
- Report writing, data analysis and GIS or mapping experience
- Experience across a range of sectors (e.g. infrastructure, energy, industrial)
- 24 days annual leave plus bank holidays (increasing with service)
