Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) are seeking a Digital Project Manager, on a 12 month fixed term contract basis. You will be responsible for managing complex ICT and transformational projects, working extensively with colleagues across departments and with external organisations and suppliers. You will be joining an award winning digital service that is enabling GM Fire & Rescue to be one of the best performing services in the country, and supporting the reform of public services across Greater Manchester in line with the Greater Manchester Strategy.
The post holder will take direct responsibility for the successful delivery of all project elements, ensuring deadlines and objectives are met to agreed levels of time, budget and quality. This is an experienced project manager role and there is an expectation that the post holder will manage projects with a significant degree of autonomy but will escalate to the Senior Project Manager where necessary.
Responsibilities
- Define the scope of projects and initiatives
- Ensure deadlines are understood and adhered to
- Ensure objectives are clearly articulated and understood
- Apply appropriate project management methodologies
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with senior officers
- Produce project documents as appropriate
- Develop and manage project risk and issue logs – monitoring, updating and reporting progress against these
- Motivate and develop team members, leading by example and identify and agree training and development needs as required
- Develop and manage successful delivery of all project elements on time, budget and quality
Team & Environment
The Digital Services team manages and supports the Greater Manchester Combined Authority’s ICT architecture.
- Lead the Digital, Data and Technology function and strategy for GMCA
- Set and enforce standards for digital services including considerations of data security
- Help the business to choose the right solution and technology, keeping the context of partnership in mind
- Provide guidance and advice for consistent, coherent, high quality digital services
- Support North West Fire Control which provide a service to GMFRS as well as Cheshire, Lancashire and Cumbria
Qualifications
- Expertise delivering complex Digital transformation projects
- Comfortable working within structured project management methodologies including Waterfall and Agile
- Well developed communication skills to influence and offer persuasive arguments with both internal and external stakeholders
- Proven ability to motivate project teams to successful outcomes
- Excellent report writing and presentation skills
- Educated to at least degree level
- Personal commitment to continuous self-development and service improvement

If appointed to the role you will work with your manager to agree and regularly review the best working pattern for you, your team and your work.
