IPS Group is working with a leading insurer to recruit a Development Underwriter to support growth across the Manchester mid‑market and corporate space. This highly market‑facing, relationship‑led role focuses on building visibility in the region, developing strong broker partnerships, and positioning the business as a go‑to market for larger and more complex cases.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively source new business opportunities and lead conversations on larger cases.
  • Work closely with trading teams to structure competitive and differentiated solutions.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of business from opportunity generation through to placement and ongoing retention.
  • Handle mid‑market through to mid‑corporate risks, typically ranging from around £100k GWP into the millions.
  • Maintain a broad portfolio across Property & Casualty, offering exposure to a wide range of industries and risk types.
  • Exercise autonomy and underwriting authority with a commercial, trading mindset.

Qualifications

  • Established broker network and experience building relationships in the mid‑market and corporate space.
  • Comfortable being out in the market and engaging brokers directly.
  • Experience in property and casualty underwriting preferred.
