The Acute Medicine department at North Manchester Hospital seeks an enthusiastic consultant to join a multidisciplinary team. The role will provide senior medical support across the 53-bed Medical Assessment Units, two wards and an Ambulatory Care Unit, with weekend daytime sessions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide senior medical support throughout the Acute Medicine unit, including weekend daytime sessions.
  • Deliver multidisciplinary care to patients in the 53-bed Medical Assessment Units, two wards and the Ambulatory Care Unit.
  • Provide 10 Planned Academic (PA) sessions, and additional 1.5 PA sessions in specialties such as Respiratory Medicine, Care of the Elderly, Frailty, Diabetes & Endocrine, and Infectious Diseases.
  • Take on clinical lead or other leadership roles, including medical education, service improvement, and incidents & governance.
  • Support the Trust Values, “Everyone Matters”, “Working Together”, “Dignity and Care”, and “Open and Honest” principles within the team.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Registered consultant in Acute Medicine or within 6 months of achieving a CCT (or equivalent) at the time of interview.
  • Sub‑specialty interests or experience in areas such as rheumatology, infectious diseases, respiratory, gastroenterology or emergency medicine.
  • Demonstrated experience providing senior medical support in a multidisciplinary environment.

Specialty Sessions

  • Specialty sessions available in Respiratory Medicine, Care of the Elderly, Frailty, Diabetes & Endocrine, Infectious Diseases and other specialties within MFT.
