The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.

This post is a full-time Paediatric ENT consultant post, contributing to the delivery of a secondary and tertiary level Paediatric ENT service. The successful applicant will be on the on-call rota for Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital (daytime and out-of-hours) and for North Manchester General Hospital (paediatric patients only, out-of-hours only). The successful applicant needs to have demonstrable interest and experience in tertiary level Otology provision.

The Paediatric Otolaryngology Department provides a secondary service, together with a busy tertiary service which forms a large proportion of our workload. The department aspires to be the leading combined secondary & tertiary Paediatric ENT service in the UK, in terms of clinical service, education and research contribution to the specialty.

The post holder will be expected to make a full contribution to both the secondary care requirements of the organisation as well as the needs of our tertiary level service. This will include both elective and emergency care. It is anticipated that the post holder has a specialist interest in Paediatric Otology.

The post carries 10 Programmed Activities which include 7 fixed clinical sessions. Flexible sessions cover:

  • Audit
  • Administration
  • Teaching
  • Continuing Medical Education
  • Ward Liaison
  • On-call covering the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital & NMGH

The current job plan shows 1.5 SPA time for core CPD, appraisal, mandatory training, audit and clinical governance and teaching. The job plan is subject to review with the appointee within 3 months of appointment in light of the changing needs of the service and the appointee. A commitment is required to address outpatient and in-patient waiting times when required.
