This post is for 40 hours per week (full time) substantive fellow to support disease groups in Medical Oncology. The post holder will be employed by The Christie NHS Foundation Trust and will be based at The Christie Withington site. The successful applicant would be expected to work alongside consultants and trainees in out-patient clinics, supervising chemotherapy delivery and performing on‑treatment reviews and where appropriate inpatient reviews.

They will be managerially accountable to the Clinical Director of the Directorate of Medical Oncology and professionally responsible to the consultants in whose clinics they will be supporting, as well as the inpatients they are reviewing. The post holder will be assigned a clinical supervisor (Consultant Medical Oncologist) and work alongside them in at least one clinic. An element of this role may be to support ORTC when required. These roles are varied depending on which disease groups they are assigned to.

Cancer research in Manchester, most of which is undertaken on the Christie site, has been officially ranked the best in the UK. The postholder will contribute to the delivery of high quality consultant‑led care across 7 days. This includes participation in planned weekend and weekday clinical activity to support safe, timely decision making & continuity of care for patients.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful candidate will support outpatient clinics at The Christie and peripheral sites. The appointee will be based at The Christie and will provide senior input to patient care.

Continuing Professional Development: The Trust supports the requirements for continuing professional development (CPD) as laid down by the GMC and surgical colleges and is committed to providing time and financial support for these activities.

Role Planning: Job plans will vary depending on the disease group in each rotation. Mon Tue Wed Thu Fri: AM Clinic, MDT/Admin, ORTC Clinic, PM SPA Clinic, Team meetings, Spa 0.5/clinic prep, Spa On call Commitments. This role does not require participation in the on‑call rota (this will vary on the number of registrars there are in post at any one time and those with less than 100% commitment on the on‑call rota).
