Cellular Therapy Nurse Co-ordinator | The Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced nurse to join the cellular therapy coordination team. Applicants should have relevant knowledge and skills. The post holder will be managed by the Senior Cell Therapy Co‑ordinator and supported by the Cellular Therapy & Transplant matron and Programme Director. The post holder will be responsible for coordinating the treatment pathways for patients requiring haematopoietic stem cell transplants and CAR‑T within the Cellular Therapy Program at the Christie Hospital.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate the pre‑admission treatment pathway for patients and donors undergoing stem cell transplantation, CAR‑T therapy and related cellular therapies.
• Ensure patients and families receive timely written and verbal information, providing advice and support to enable informed consent and shared decision‑making.
• Deliver holistic nursing care and emotional support to patients and families throughout the pre‑treatment phase.
• Work collaboratively with all members of the multidisciplinary team to plan and coordinate treatment pathways for patients receiving cellular therapies within the trust and with external providers.
• Manage a designated caseload, ensuring all pre‑admission and pre‑collection requirements are completed, documented and reviewed by the clinical team with support from the senior coordinator.
• Liaise with the medical team in the development, implementation and evaluation of individual care plans, treatment protocols and pathway documentation.
• Collect, collate, evaluate and report patient information, maintaining accurate and contemporaneous records to support safe and effective patient management.
• Work collaboratively with Quality and Data teams to maintain accurate record systems, contribute to service evaluation, and support the development and review of operating policies related to cellular therapies.
• Actively participate in regulatory accreditation processes (e.g., JACIE, HTA), clinical audit, annual reporting and the development of quality manuals.
• Review trial and commercial therapy documentation relevant to cellular therapy pathways and participate in associated meetings in the absence of the Lead Coordinator.
• Work in partnership with multidisciplinary teams, external professionals and agencies to ensure patient needs are met across the treatment pathway.
• Participate in relevant outpatient clinics, weekly transplant MDT and departmental meetings.
• Act as a visible role model, providing expert specialist clinical knowledge to colleagues and promoting high‑quality, patient‑focused care across the cellular therapy pathway.
• Support patients, families and the wider multidisciplinary team in developing and embedding standards of practice, and participate actively in audit processes to ensure continuous quality improvement.
• Lead or deputise, as required, at planning meetings with medical, laboratory and operational teams to coordinate the cellular therapy programme in collaboration with transplant/donor coordinators and the apheresis team.
• Work closely with directorate managers and key stakeholders to provide accurate information and assurance that performance indicators, quality metrics and service standards are being met.
• Research: maintain an up‑to‑date knowledge base of current research and emerging evidence relevant to cellular therapy; assist in the application, translation and evaluation of research findings to support evidence‑based clinical practice; participate in research, audit and service evaluation activities.
• Education & Teaching: provide specialist education and training on the management of cellular therapy treatments; develop and evaluate education programmes in collaboration with the Practice Facilitator and wider education teams.
