Where will you be working?
Aviation – Our Aviation team works across a wide range of specialist civil, mechanical and electrical engineering works including major international airports, regional airports and RAF airfields. Due to an increase of work across the UK, we are seeking an Airfield Technician.
Responsibilities
- Install, maintain and repair AGL systems including runway and taxiway lighting, approach lighting, PAPI/VASIs, signage, and associated systems.
- Carry out fault diagnosis, electrical testing, and commissioning of AGL circuits in compliance with CAP 168, ICAO Annex 14, and other relevant standards.
- Ensure strict adherence to airside safety procedures and airport operational requirements.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and site plans.
- Liaise with project managers, engineers, and airport operations teams to support efficient project delivery.
- Complete and maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation (RAMS, permits, test results, etc.).
- Assist with night shift or out-of-hours work as required to minimise operational disruption and travel overnight stays required for work at multiple UK airport sites.
Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent.
- Experience working with airfield ground lighting systems.
- Strong understanding of electrical safety, regulations, and standards.
- Full UK driving licence.
- CSCS or ECS card.
- Willingness to work airside under strict operational conditions (full airside clearance will be arranged).
- Willing to travel across the UK.
Desirable
- G39, 18th Edition, or similar electrical certifications.
- Airport-specific experience (airside pass eligible).
- AGL 1 and or 2 training.
- Knowledge of AGL control systems and CCRs.
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings and airport layout plans.
- Experience with loop detection systems or fibre networks.
