Are you looking for an opportunity to influence procurement strategy and make a real impact at group level? We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Category Buyer to join the Group Purchasing function of a well established, manufacturing organisation. This role sits within a period of positive change and transformation and offers the successful individual the opportunity to shape sourcing strategy, drive continuous improvement and work closely with senior supply chain stakeholders.

You will take ownership of an allocated portfolio of commodities, aligned to your experience and background, playing a key role in supplier negotiations, contract management and the development of group procurement processes.

Responsibilities
  • Developing and implementing sourcing strategies across an assigned portfolio of commodities
  • Leading supplier selection, negotiations and contract management activities
  • Driving cost reduction initiatives and value engineering programmes
  • Monitoring market trends and mitigating supply chain risk
  • Managing supplier performance and building strong, strategic relationships
  • Collaborating cross functionally with engineering, operations and quality teams
  • Supporting project teams during installation activities, ensuring effective supplier coordination
Skills and Experience
  • Proven experience in procurement, category buying or strategic sourcing within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of commodity and category management principles
  • Commercially astute with well developed negotiation skills
  • Advanced MS Excel capability, including pivot tables, data analysis and cost modelling
  • Experience working cross functionally, including project based activity support
  • A proactive, results driven approach with strong stakeholder management skills
