About this job:

As a Pathology Doctor with Swansea Bay University Health Board, you will be using advanced medical equipment to diagnose, treat, and prevent a range of diseases. You will make or confirm diagnoses by studying tissue and fluid samples, identify disease, and build appropriate treatment plans based on your expert knowledge.

Main Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Actively support patients and their families, communicating clinical information to explain a diagnosis.
  • Work in and where appropriate, lead a multidisciplinary team.
  • Assess and prioritise patient/client requirements, delegating effectively to others.
  • Examine a range of patients, using your diagnostic skills to determine any tests needed.
  • Support and advise clinical staff on the use and limitations of each diagnostic investigation.
  • Provide advice and interpret test results, assessing the appropriateness of further investigations.
  • Deliver clinical care to patients where needed and conduct ward rounds and outpatient clinics.
  • Oversee the smooth running of the Pathology Department, planning workload and staffing requirements.
  • Supervise and teach junior medical staff as required.
  • Carry out research and keep up to date with new information.
  • Adhere to the NMC professional Code of Conduct.

Qualifications/Licenses/Certifications:

  • Be a GMC registered Doctor with Specialist license to practice.
  • Must hold and have completed FRCPath Part 2.
  • Completion of higher training (CCT or within 6 months of obtaining).
  • Applicants without CCT registration must demonstrate prior experience working at consultant grade and hold FRCPath Part 2.
  • Must have evidence of Right to Work in the UK.
  • Pass an enhanced background check (DBS).
  • Willing to work as PAYE only.
