We are currently recruiting for an Engineering Manager to support major Nuclear clients based in Warrington and Preston. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing team delivering high-profile projects within the nuclear sector. We are offering full-time roles on a hybrid basis (3 days per week in the office), available on either a contract basis (Inside IR35 with extensions) or permanent employment contracts. Our clients are offering competitive rates and attractive salary and benefits packages.
Duties
- Lead and manage multi-disciplinary engineering teams delivering nuclear projects across the full project lifecycle.
- Oversee engineering design, verification, and technical governance activities.
- Provide technical leadership and ensure compliance with nuclear safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
- Manage project scope, schedules, resources, and budgets.
- Review and approve engineering deliverables including calculations, reports, specifications, and design documentation.
- Support concept, feasibility, and detailed design phases.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders, clients, regulators, and supply chain partners.
- Ensure adherence to relevant codes, standards, and best practice.
- Mentor and develop engineers and technical staff.
- Support construction, commissioning, and site activities where required.
Essential Experience – Engineering Manager
- Proven experience in managing engineering teams within regulated industries.
- Strong background in nuclear, defence, or similarly complex environments.
- Experience delivering large-scale engineering projects.
- Sound knowledge of safety case processes and nuclear regulatory frameworks.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience working within the UK nuclear sector.
- Understanding of seismic, structural, mechanical, or systems engineering.
- Experience working with major engineering consultancies or Tier 1 contractors.
- Knowledge of BIM and digital engineering tools.
Qualifications
- Degree qualified in Engineering (BEng / MEng or equivalent).
- Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or working towards chartership preferred.
- Membership of a relevant professional institution (ICE, IMechE, IET, etc.) advantageous.
