Randox Laboratories continues to develop disruptive innovations in diagnostics and healthcare globally. We are looking for a Deputy Laboratory Manager for our clinical laboratory in Warrington.
Location: Unit 2 Bishops Court, Warrington, WA2 8QY.
Contract: Full‐time, permanent, 40 hours per week across 5 days. Early, late, and weekend shifts required.
Vaccination: Must be vaccinated against Hepatitis B or be able to get vaccinated following successful interview stage.
Right to Work: Legal right to work in the UK for 12 months from application date. Visa sponsorship not available.
Key Responsibilities:
- Day‐to‐day supervision of laboratory staff, including conducting appraisals and delivering training.
- Liaise with Quality Personnel to ensure effective collection and testing procedures meet regulatory and international standards.
- Distribute important information to all staff across all shifts via memos, emails, etc.
- Support and participate in staff training and development as required.
- Ensure all necessary quality control checks are completed daily and meet internal and external criteria.
- Optimise staff utilisation through efficient rostering, skills planning and workload measurement.
- Review & trend analytical data generated by the lab for patient results.
- Evaluate each instrument capacity regularly to improve and maintain efficiency within each lab.
- Maintain integrity of all samples at all times.
- Write new Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions within the department.
- Liaise with clients to ensure they receive the best possible service.
- Provide guidance and approval for development of new test methods in line with regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
- Degree level in Molecular Genetics, Biochemistry, Immunology, or another Life Science discipline.
- Experience in diagnostic testing and reagent applications.
- Previous laboratory experience.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Strong leadership skills and a high level of self‐motivation.
- Knowledge of software packages including Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word.
- Previous managerial experience.
- Previous experience managing a laboratory.
- Previous experience in a clinical testing laboratory.
- Working knowledge of quality systems.
- Working knowledge of Health and Safety, including COSHH.
