We are looking for dynamic and proactive members of staff to maintain the delivery of safe, high quality, patient-focused care within our Theatre department. This role involves providing direct care to patients attending the operating department in a safe and welcoming environment under the supervision of professionally qualified staff. The position starts at Band 2 and progresses to Band 3 once all mandatory training and competencies have been completed. This role requires work days, nights, evenings, weekends and on-call duties. Applicants must have at least 12 months on their visa at the start of employment for training and operational reasons. The Trust cannot provide sponsorship for this role and will not offer sponsorship after visa expiry.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the cleanliness of all Operating Theatre areas and equipment at all times; participate in all cleaning programmes before and after routine and emergency operating procedures.
  • Prepare the Operating Theatre prior to and following operative procedures, ensuring correct equipment is available and in working order; report any problems to the Registered Practitioner.
  • Assist the Scrubbed Practitioner in preparing and replenishing sterile trolleys using an aseptic technique.
  • Participate in swab, needle and instrument counts under the direction of the Scrubbed Practitioner and in accordance with departmental procedure.
  • Comply with all aspects of any Local Safety Standards for Invasive Procedures (LocSSIPs) process and associated documentation during patient care.
  • Work as part of a team, demonstrating good time management and strong communication skills (verbal, written & electronic).

On‑Call Arrangements

Staff required to participate in the On‑Call rota must be able to attend the hospital within 30 minutes of a call. Individuals who cannot travel within 30 minutes may arrange alternative accommodation nearby at their own expense.
