An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Band 6 Sister to join our Community Macular service within the Garston Community Site. The role requires dual‑site activity, including St Paul’s at the Royal Liverpool Hospital, most likely on a 3:2 split.

Band & WTE: 0.32 WTE (12 hours) – Band 7 during service hours; additional Band 6 duties include coordination of clinics and deputising for the department manager when required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage workload, complete intravitreal injection clinics, and ensure appropriate follow‑up for macular patients.
  • Act as the clinical expert and professional resource to the multi‑professional team, patients and carers within the specialty service.
  • Coordinate clinics and provide leadership during the department manager’s absence.
  • Embed within the newly formed macular team across both sites, undergoing full training to ensure a smooth transition into community care.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience within a hospital ophthalmology unit, specifically with macular patients undergoing intravitreal injections.
  • Proven ability to work in a high‑volume healthcare environment; experience in an ophthalmic setting is an advantage.
  • Excellent teamwork and liaison skills with both the ophthalmic team and multidisciplinary colleagues.

We are offering a unique chance to develop a role in a high‑volume, community‑based macular service. The position closes on Thursday 28 May 2026.
