Your new role As Senior Legal Counsel, you will act as a trusted adviser to senior stakeholders across Legal, Financial Services, Compliance, Risk, Product, Operations and Technology teams.

You'll provide commercially focused legal advice on a broad range of financial services matters while supporting the development and delivery of innovative customer solutions.

Key responsibilities will include: Advising on consumer credit, financial services regulation, FCA requirements, payment services and related regulatory frameworks.

Supporting the design, launch and ongoing management of regulated financial products and customer propositions.

Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements, including technology, outsourcing, supplier, distribution and data-sharing arrangements.

Leading and supporting regulatory change projects, horizon scanning and implementation of new legal and regulatory requirements.

Advising on governance, risk management and compliance frameworks.

Supporting regulatory engagement, investigations, information requests and remediation activity where required.

Providing practical legal training and guidance to business stakeholders.

Managing external legal advisers and contributing to the development of junior members of the legal team.

What you’ll need to succeed To be successful in this role, you will be a qualified Solicitor in England & Wales with strong post-qualification experience gained either in-house or within private practice.

You will also demonstrate: Strong knowledge of UK financial services regulation and consumer credit law.

Experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.

Excellent drafting, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.

The ability to translate complex legal and regulatory requirements into pragmatic commercial advice.

Strong commercial awareness and sound judgement in a fast-paced environment.

Confidence engaging with senior stakeholders and influencing business decisions.

Exposure to areas such as outsourcing, operational resilience, technology contracts, data protection or financial promotions would be advantageous.
