Liverpool University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust wishes to appoint a full time Research Fellow in Hepatobiliary Surgery for a 12‑month period with potential opportunity to be extended. The Liver Unit is one of the busiest in the UK performing 150‑200 liver resections annually. The appointed person will be based at the Royal site of the Trust and will be a member of the Hepatobiliary and General Surgical Department.
Role: This is a full time research post. The successful candidate will be expected to work towards a higher degree. The job holder will also participate in the 1:13 General Surgery emergency on‑call rota at Specialist Registrar level.
Responsibilities:
- Work towards a higher degree.
- Participate in the 1:13 General Surgery emergency on‑call rota at Specialist Registrar level.
- Participate in Surgical Audit, including monthly audit of morbidity and mortality within the Directorate.
- Attend and undertake audit during tenure of the post.
- Accountably report professionally and managerially to the Supervising Consultant.
- Share responsibility for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching/training; undergraduate medical students will be attached to the Unit.
- Mentoring and support of trainees during the tenure of the post.
Qualifications:
- Fully registered with the General Medical Council.
- Must have MRCS qualification.
