An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Nurse to work in our busy Day Surgical unit at University Hospital Liverpool Group, Elective Care Centre, Aintree site.

Responsibilities:

  • To admit and pre-assess patients prior to their day case and inpatient procedures, completing a comprehensive digital assessment.
  • To care for our patients on the day of their surgery pre and post operatively, ensuring a safe second stage recovery phase on our busy day surgical ward, managing post operative complications, pain and nausea.
  • To safely discharge patients home, using the Day Surgical criteria for a Nurse led discharge.
  • Work as a member of the multidisciplinary team and undertake delegated tasks from Deputy Ward Managers/Sister in charge.
  • Responsibility and accountability for the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of nursing care.
  • Appropriately escalates and reports any incidents, following the correct incident reporting procedures.
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • In the absence of Deputy Ward Manager take charge of the unit, ensuring patient and staff safety is maintained at all times.
  • Demonstrate and apply clinical decision-making skill through all clinical specialities: Liaise with all specialist teams in the delivery of high quality care.
  • Ensure all students are guided and assessed to effectively achieve their objectives and standards of care.
  • The postholder will always work within the NMC's Code of Professional Conduct.
