Apprenticeship Opportunity
Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is offering a two‑year fixed‑term apprenticeship as a Pre‑registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician (PTPT) based at Aintree University Hospital and Royal Liverpool University Hospital. The role combines academic study with supervised practical training within Trust Pharmacy departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Work within a multidisciplinary team including pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and pharmacy assistants.
- Provide high‑quality dispensing for all patients across LUHFT.
- Participate in medicines management duties at ward level, such as medicines reconciliation, assessing patients' own medications and ordering medications.
- Prepare and assemble all pharmaceuticals, including extemporaneously prepared products, in accordance with prevailing policies and procedures.
- Participate fully in training through rotations within the department.
Training and Qualification Pathway
Apprentices will study for a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians with an approved education provider – typically one day per week – alongside structured workplace learning. On successful completion, trainees will be eligible to apply for registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
Eligibility & Qualifications
- Hold at least four GCSEs (or recognised equivalents) at grades 4–9 (grade C or above), including English Language, Mathematics and a core Science subject.
- Level 2 Functional Skills in English and Maths are accepted.
- Evidence of all relevant qualifications and an up‑to‑date NARIC (where applicable) must be provided at interview.
- Must be able to commit time outside of work to meet academic and portfolio requirements.
