You will assist in delivering high quality patient care in the Emergency Department. The role involves patient support, direct care, venepuncture, clerical duties and shift work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care and support to doctors and nursing staff.
  • Perform venepuncture and cannulation and maintain fluid intake/output charts.
  • Assist with routine clerical tasks such as notes preparation, stock ordering and equipment decontamination.
  • Support patient hygiene, catheter care and escort patients to other Trust departments.
  • Co‑ordinate dietary requirements with catering team.
  • Promote and support infection control and safe patient storage.
  • Act as a chaperone in accordance with Trust policies.
  • Assist in ward inductions and develop junior staff where required.
  • Maintain accurate and secure patient records and confidentiality.

Qualifications & Skills

  • NHS Foundation Trust registration or equivalent nursing qualification preferred.
  • Evidence of venepuncture competency.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts including long days and nights.
