We are looking to recruit one part‑time driver on a 30 hour contract working Monday to Friday between the hours 1400‑2000, to join our dedicated transport team. As an NHS driver, you will play a vital role in the smooth operation of our linen/laundry delivery team, driving a 3.5 tonne tail‑lift vehicle between our trust sites. You must be able to demonstrate experience of driving this type of vehicle.
Responsibilities
- Cross site transportation: Driving and adhering to all road laws; safe and efficient transportation of staff.
- Vehicle maintenance: Performing regular checks, including oil, fuel, tyre pressure, and ensuring the vehicle is clean and well‑stocked.
- Adhering to safety protocols: Following strict health and safety guidelines.
- Record keeping: Maintaining accurate records of deliveries, pick‑ups, mileage, incidents, and issues encountered during duties.
- Assisting staff: Providing assistance to staff with mobility issues, ensuring safe boarding and comfort during transport.
- Communication: Effectively communicating with healthcare staff, patients, and sometimes patients' families to ensure clear information exchange and coordination.
- Planning and organising work: Planning day‑to‑day tasks, maintaining schedules, and working unsupervised to meet delivery windows.
- Vehicle preparation: Checking fuel, oil, water, tyres, lights; maintaining defect reports and safety documentation.
- Repair and maintenance coordination: Taking the vehicle to the hirer for repairs, servicing and MOTs; keeping the vehicle clean inside and out to prevent contamination.
- Safe loading/unloading: Observing health and safety guidelines to prevent injury.
- Customer relationship: Establishing good working relationships with customers and keeping them informed of any changes to the schedule.

- Experience driving a 3.5 tonne tail‑lift vehicle.
- Knowledge of NHS transport requirements and health and safety regulations.
- Strong organisational and planning skills with the ability to work unsupervised.
