An opportunity to join the Upper Gastrointestinal (UGI) dietetic team, part of a wider Dietetic Department, at The Royal Liverpool University Hospital, providing essential clinical and clerical support. This post supports the Upper GI dietetic service for patients with inoperable and operable UGI cancer. We seek highly motivated individuals who enjoy working as part of a team, eager to learn and engage with all aspects of patient care. Successful applicants will work alongside specialist dietitians to facilitate nutrition care for both inpatients and outpatients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Order nutritional supplement samples and manage patient home delivery of enteral feeds.
  • Handle phone calls and liaise with community health professionals and other hospitals.
  • Register patients for home delivery of enteral feeds and send relevant paperwork as instructed by the Dietitian.
  • Prepare multiple clinic sessions to ensure the Dietitian has up-to-date, accurate information when reviewing patients.
  • Contribute to anthropometric measurements and data collection as part of the UGI Dietetic team.
  • Provide general administrative support to the administration team with tasks related to patient nutritional care.
  • Maintain basic IT, internet and keyboard skills; communicate effectively and work with people.
  • Assist dietitians in monitoring nutritional care by collecting weights, heights, BMI, blood levels, and intake information.
  • Feed back variances to care plans and liaise with dietitians daily.
  • Ensure all patients receive prescribed supplements and food snacks; encourage and assist patients to take them.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Basic IT and communication skills.
  • Experience working with patients is preferred.
