This post is a 32‑hour band 6 role. The post holder will manage their workload, complete injection clinics (once fully trained) and ensure patients receive required follow‑up appointments. Additional duties include coordination of clinics, scrubbing and assisting during Intravitreal Injection procedures. The successful candidate will act as a clinical expert and professional resource to the multi‑professional team, patients and carers within their specialty service. The role requires experience in a high‑volume healthcare environment, preferably within an ophthalmic setting, and ongoing or completed qualifications in Foundation of Ophthalmic Nursing Practice and Advanced Ophthalmic Nursing Practice. Full training to perform Intravitreal Injections will be provided, and the post holder will become a core member of the macular team.
Responsibilities
- Manage workload and complete injection clinics.
- Ensure appropriate follow‑up appointments for patients.
- Coordinate clinics and assist in Intravitreal Injection procedures.
- Perform Logmars & IOPs as part of routine assessments.
- Administer Intravitreal Injections after training.
- Review OCT scans and supervise student nurses.
Qualifications
- Ophthalmic Foundation Degree and Advanced Ophthalmic Nursing Degree or equivalent.
- Experience in a high‑volume healthcare environment.
- Experience within an ophthalmic setting.
- Ongoing or completed Foundation of Ophthalmic Nursing Practice and Advanced Ophthalmic Nursing Practice qualifications.
