Do you have a passion for learning and a determination to succeed? If so, we have an incredible opportunity for you! Join our dynamic and forward‑thinking team at HMS as an Apprentice Site Manager, where you will gain practical experience, working towards a HNC Level 4 Construction Site Supervisor qualification. This is a 24‑month apprenticeship. Successful candidates will be expected to travel to their assigned college (Hybrid HQ) or workplace as required.

What Will You Be Doing?

  • Shadow the Project Team to learn how to communicate targets and deliver high‑quality service
  • Observe how to motivate teams and build strong working relationships
  • Develop the skills, knowledge, and competence required to independently carry out all core tasks associated with the trade by the end of the apprenticeship programme
  • Support workload planning, forecasting, and performance tracking
  • Gain experience using IT systems to manage and improve project delivery
  • Learn how to manage materials, vehicle checks, and equipment
  • Understand contract administration and complete documentation accurately
  • Observe performance monitoring and learn how to meet contractual obligations
  • Assist with training plans and workforce development
  • Learn how to monitor daily costs and project profitability
  • Gain insight into supervising staff, inspections, and quality standards
  • Observe on‑site decision making and how changes are communicated to customers
  • Support planning and organising works while developing problem‑solving skills
  • Promote and follow health and safety procedures
  • Handle customer complaints and observe coaching and professional behaviour
  • Be flexible in supporting other team tasks as required
  • Attend college and complete all assessments to achieve your apprenticeship
  • Take part in training, reviews, and development activities

What We’re Looking For:

  • English GCSE Grade 4/C or above (or Functional Skills Level 2), Maths GCSE Grade 4/C or above (or Functional Skills Level 2), and a Level 3 qualification (e.g. A‑Level, NVQ, BTEC or equivalent) ideally within construction, or relevant construction industry experience (typically 1–2 years)
  • Applications from mature learners (19+/21+) with significant construction or supervisory experience are welcomed, and equivalent experience, skills assessments or professional discussions may be considered in place of formal qualifications
  • Successful applicants may still be required to complete Functional Skills in English and Maths as part of the programme
  • A strong work ethic and enthusiasm for learning
  • Commitment to academic learning, including attending college
  • Excellent time management and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Good IT skills and the ability to use communication tools effectively
  • A customer‑focused attitude and the ability to work well in a team
  • Flexibility and resilience in a fast‑paced work environment
  • A commitment to obtaining a full UK driving licence by the end of your apprenticeship

Assessment Day

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an assessment day to evaluate their skills and suitability for the apprenticeship. Assessment day will take place on 30th June 2026 at Hybrid HQ.

College or Training Organisation

All our Site Manager apprentices are enrolled in Hybrid HQ – Unit 3, The Boxworks, 18 Heysham Rd, Aintree, Liverpool L30 6UR.

Your Training Plan

You will receive both on‑the‑job and off‑the‑job training over the course of 24 months, following a detailed induction and training plan. You will attend college on a day‑release basis. Upon successful completion, you will earn the HNC Level 4 Construction Site Supervisor qualification.

During Your Apprenticeship

You will work across our three main vibrant heartlands – Liverpool, Warrington, and St Helens and surrounding areas, where you’ll rotate through a variety of dynamic workstreams, gaining hands‑on experience and building a broad foundation of knowledge along the way.
