Telford & Wrekin Library Service is looking for a keen individual to join the team. This is a permanent position for 27 hours per week and will be based at Southwater Library.

Brief overview of the role:

  • The library service is a valued resource within the community.
  • This role provides a highly customer-focused service to the public.
  • Answer general and book-related queries.
  • Issue, discharge and shelve books.
  • Promote library stock and handle cash.
  • Help with children’s activities.
  • Register new users.
  • Help customers in the use of IT via public access PCs.
  • Deliver the 'First Point' services provided in the library.

The position will involve working fortnightly on a Saturday on a rota basis. The post holder may also be required to work Sundays, evenings and Bank Holidays as required.

Skills and experience:

  • Knowledgeable about books, online resources and information on the Council website.
  • Can work accurately, sometimes under pressure.
  • Communicates articulately with a diverse range of library customers.
  • Uses good questioning skills to comprehend and meet the needs of library customers.
  • Shows initiative and a desire for developing new skills.
