Contract: Permanent

Hours: 30 hours per week, Monday to Thursday, 8:30 am–16:30 pm, 40 weeks during term time.

Pay: Salary not specified (FTE £31,789 per annum, including £1,602 per annum benefits such as employer pension contributions).

The Additional Learning Support (ALS) service is based in Leyland, near the M6, M61 and M65, and within commuting distance of Manchester, Liverpool and the Lake District. ALS aims to enable students to maximise their potential and provide support for all students with learning difficulties or disabilities without stigma.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Head of ALS, the Senior ALS Coordinator and other key staff to support a defined caseload of students focused on literacy, numeracy and study skills.
  • Provide assistance with literacy, numeracy and study skills for students, including those with dyslexia, sensory & physical impairment, autism, ADHD, dyspraxia and moderate learning difficulties.
  • Offer personal care support and one‑to‑one disability support where appropriate.
  • Support students in developing effective study strategies and learning skills.
  • Maintain regular liaison and communication with other support and academic colleagues to ensure a coordinated approach.

Qualifications & Personal Qualities

  • Warm, approachable, and able to support students in developing their literacy and numeracy skills to achieve Functional Skills or GCSE Maths and/or English goals.
  • Experience or demonstrated interest in supporting students with learning difficulties or disabilities is desirable.
  • Strong commitment to continuous improvement and excellent communication skills.
  • Capacity to work as part of an enthusiastic and dedicated team supporting students across all curriculum areas.
