Key Plant Automation Ltd is a leading provider of innovative automation solutions, specialising in advanced welding, positioning and robotic systems. We are seeking an experienced Paint Prepper / Fettler to join our production team. The successful candidate will play a key role in preparing fabricated components and machine parts for painting and finishing, ensuring high-quality standards are maintained.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare metal surfaces using sanders, grinders and other hand or power tools.
- Fettle, clean and smooth fabricated components to remove weld spatter and surface imperfections.
- Mask components to protect critical areas prior to paint application.
- Carry out visual checks and surface inspections to ensure quality standards are met.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised work area.
- Assist with movement of components within the paint area (training provided if required).
- Follow all company health and safety procedures.
- Use overhead cranes and FLTs to move workpieces safely throughout the working areas.
Ideal Candidate:
- Previous experience as a Paint Prepper, Fettler or Surface Finisher, ideally within a fabrication or engineering environment.
- Confident in using a range of hand tools and power tools such as grinders, orbital sanders.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in producing high-quality work.
- Capable of working independently or as part of a team in a busy workshop environment.
- Reliable, punctual and safety-conscious.
- Honesty and reliability.
- Familiarity with precision engineering manufacturing environments.
- Adaptability and self-sufficiency.
- Keen eye for detail and accuracy.
Hours of Work:
Monday – Thursday 8am – 5pm, Friday 7:30am – 4pm
Holiday Entitlement:
20 days + 8 bank holidays + 1 birthday holiday. The company has a shutdown over the Christmas period.
