The Manchester Deansgate Hotel is on the lookout for a dynamic Kitchen Porter Manager (Chief Steward) to inspire and lead. Join the excitement and become part of the IHG Hotels and Resorts family!

As a Kitchen Porter Manager (Chief Steward), your day-to-day will be driven by our Guests' needs, however you can expect to cover the following duties and responsibilities (not all encompassing):

  • Lead, train and supervise the Kitchen Porter team to ensure smooth daily operations
  • Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene across all kitchen and back-of-house areas
  • Manage pot wash, dishwashing and waste disposal processes efficiently
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety and food hygiene regulations (e.g. HACCP)
  • Control stock levels of cleaning chemicals, equipment and disposables
  • Coordinate with chefs and front-of-house teams to support service delivery
  • Oversee equipment handling, reporting faults and arranging repairs with the Maintenance team where needed
  • Manage staff rotas, attendance and performance within the stewarding team
  • Drive continuous improvement in cleanliness standards and operational efficiency

  • Proven experience in a similar Chief Steward or Kitchen Porter Supervisor role
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team
  • Excellent attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness
  • Good understanding of health
