We are seeking a Key Stage 2 Teaching Assistant with a strong background in delivering interventions to join our team in Knowsley. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys the academic challenge of the upper primary years (Years 3-6). You will play a vital role in helping pupils master complex concepts, bridge attainment gaps, and build the resilience needed for their transition to secondary school. Key Responsibilities
- Targeted Interventions: Lead small group sessions in Literacy and Numeracy, specifically designed to raise attainment for pupils working below age-related expectations.
- SATs Preparation: Support Year 6 pupils with booster sessions and practice papers, helping to reduce exam anxiety and improve core subject confidence.
- 1:1 Academic Support: Work closely with pupils with SEN or those requiring additional challenge, adapting classroom materials to ensure the curriculum is accessible yet ambitious.
- Closing the Gap: Use school data and teacher feedback to identify learning gaps and deliver bespoke "catch-up" sessions.
- Behaviour for Learning: Foster a mature and focused classroom environment, encouraging independence and a "growth mindset" among older primary pupils.
- Classroom Partnership: Assist the Class Teacher with administrative tasks and resource preparation to ensure lessons run smoothly and effectively.
Requirements & Experience
- Experience: A minimum of 6 months working with children, ideally within a Key Stage 2 setting or a formal tutoring/caregiving capacity.
- Intervention Skills: Previous experience or a strong understanding of how to lead small group learning is highly desirable.
- Communication: Confident communication skills to engage older children and provide clear feedback to teaching staff and parents.
- Academic Proficiency: Strong competency in English and Maths to effectively support the KS2 curriculum.
