Residential Support Worker (Children’s Home)

Location: Ilford, East London

Salary: £13.50–£15.00 per hour (paid monthly)

Contract: Full‑time, shift‑based (Mon–Sun)

About the Role

We are seeking committed and compassionate Residential Support Workers to join our team in Ilford. You will play a key role in supporting children and young people within a residential home, helping them feel safe, valued, and empowered to achieve positive outcomes.

This is a rewarding position within a busy, supportive environment, working alongside a range of professionals to provide high‑quality care.

Working Hours

  • Day shifts: 8:00am – 8:30pm
  • Waking nights: 8:00pm – 8:30am

Essential Criteria

  • Minimum 6 months’ experience supporting children or young people (care, support, or education settings)
  • Ability to advocate for young people and promote their wellbeing
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Reliable, professional, and committed to safeguarding

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in a residential childcare setting
  • Level 4 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team
  • High level of integrity and emotional resilience

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting children and young people with daily routines
  • Creating a safe, nurturing, and structured home environment
  • Building positive, trusting relationships as a key worker
  • Encouraging education, independence, and positive behaviour
  • Working with social workers, families, and other professionals
  • Contributing to care plans and independence goals
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised home
  • Completing accurate records and essential administrative tasks
  • Making informed decisions to support young people during shifts
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues to deliver consistent, high‑quality care
