The predicted salary is between 30000 - 40000 £ per year.
You will undertake a range of skilled tasks working on the highway network, operating large goods vehicles, tools and equipment in relation to the service function of the highways, transport and recycling department. You will take part in the out of hours service including winter maintenance which will include pre salting, ploughing and patrolling the network of both County & Trunk roads, working outside of normal hours and often in extreme and challenging weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure health and safety is maintained to a high level.
- Carry out daily vehicle checks and record them in the driver defect app.
- Work within a skilled operational team to complete works to a high standard.
- Take part in out of hours standby which would include operating a gritter.
- Carry out all aspects of Highway repairs, including resurfacing, drainage and cyclic works.
- Operate small plant and machinery following completion of relevant training.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Hold a current Category C HGV licence.
- Have the ability to operate machinery in relation to highways repairs.
- Ability to operate a tractor and flail mower would be an advantage and financially rewarding.
- Sector Skills Scheme Unit 12d Traffic Management.
- Safety on the Highway Certificate.
- Health and safety Certificate relevant to the position.
- The ability to work alone under pressure in adverse weather conditions.
