An ambitious and improving local authority is looking to appoint experienced and motivated Social Workers into its Assessment Team. This is a key frontline role where you will act as the first point of involvement for children, young people, and families requiring support. You will complete high-quality assessments, identify risks and strengths, and ensure children receive the right support at the right time. The service is focused on child-centred, relationship-based practice, working collaboratively with families from the earliest stage to create positive and lasting change while ensuring children remain safe and supported.
The Role
- Undertake timely and robust child and family assessments
- Respond to referrals in a child-focused and outcome-driven way
- Work closely with partner agencies to identify the most appropriate interventions
- Complete safeguarding investigations and risk assessments
- Develop effective care and support plans
- Build strong relationships with children and families while ensuring the child’s voice remains central throughout
- Manage a varied and fast-paced caseload within a supportive team environment
About You
- Hold a recognised Social Work qualification (Degree, DipSW, CQSW or equivalent)
- Be registered with Social Work England
- Have experience within children’s assessment or safeguarding services
- Be confident making sound professional decisions in complex situations
- Demonstrate strong analytical, assessment, and communication skills
- Be resilient, reflective, and committed to delivering high-quality practice
