We are a welcoming family looking for a kind, reliable, and energetic PA to support our 14‑year‑old son, Sam, who has Adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD) and is fully dependent on others for all daily living needs such as feeding, mobilising, washing, changing and medication administration. The role involves creating joyful moments and ensuring Sam can participate in hobbies, school and social experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with personal care tasks – bathing, dressing, grooming.
  • Help maintain a tidy living environment, including organising the room.
  • Assist with laundry.
  • Organise medical supplies and medication administration (including NG feeding).
  • Support Sam in engaging in activities he enjoys (TV, video games, swimming, outings, interaction with animals – especially dogs).
  • Facilitate participation in hobbies, school and social activities.
  • Provide compassionate and dedicated support throughout the day.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Warm, patient and energetic.
  • Comfortable with full personal care responsibilities.
  • Flexible, reliable and proactive.
  • Experience with children or young people with high needs is a bonus, though not essential.

Benefits

Direct payments are available from Local Authorities for individuals with a care and support plan, allowing flexibility in funding the assistance needed for independent living. Additional hours may be available from September onwards and flexibility to work beyond the contracted hours may be requested with advance notice.
