The organisation is committed to providing safe, secure and well-maintained learning environments and is investing in its estates and facilities teams to ensure the highest standards are maintained across its sites.Working as part of a dedicated Estates & Facilities team, you will play a vital role in supporting the day-to-day operation of the college's campuses, ensuring facilities remain safe, secure and fully operational for staff, learners and visitors.
Your new roleAs an Estates & Facilities Officer, you will be responsible for supporting the smooth operation, maintenance and security of college campuses across Ystrad Mynach and Rhondda.
Your duties will include: Opening and closing buildings and carrying out security checks.
Responding to alarm activations and participating in out-of-hours call-out rotas.
Conducting security patrols and reporting maintenance or safety concerns.
Supporting general maintenance and minor repair works.
Assisting with grounds maintenance, litter collection and site upkeep.
Carrying out porterage duties, furniture moves and room set-ups.
Supporting waste management and recycling activities.
Liaising with contractors and assisting with site access requirements.
Maintaining accurate records through helpdesk and maintenance systems.
Ensuring compliance with health and safety procedures.
Travelling between campuses was required to support operational needs.
What you'll need to succeedTo be successful in this role, you will have proven practical experience working within an estate, facilities, maintenance, care-taking, security, trade or similar operational environment.
You will be comfortable working in a hands-on role and capable of supporting the day-to-day operation, safety and maintenance of a busy site.
You will also demonstrate: Proven practical experience within estates, facilities, maintenance, care taking, security, trades or a similar operational environment.
Experience working in a customer-facing environment with multiple service users.
The ability to carry out a range of operational, maintenance and site support duties.
Experience undertaking building checks, security patrols, opening and closing procedures or similar responsibilities.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads effectively.
Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, contractors and visitors.
Experience using IT systems, including Outlook, Teams and maintenance/helpdesk systems.
Knowledge of health and safety practices and a commitment to maintaining safe working environments.
The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Flexibility to participate in shift patterns, out-of-hours rotas and emergency call-outs where required.
A willingness to travel between campuses/sites as required.
A commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion.
Experience within an educational, public sector or multi-site environment.
First Aid, Fire Marshal, Manual Handling or other relevant facilities-related training.
A current UK driving licence.
