We are working with a local Ystrad school to find an individual to work as a behaviour support assistant, assisting pupils in lessons and everyday tasks. Someone with previous experience dealing with behaviour is essential, as the role requires immediate comfort in the environment. The pupils can range from ages 3‑19, but you will generally stay with the same group of pupils for most lessons and break periods. The role will involve both classroom and outside activities.
In classrooms your main role will be to support the pupil and ensure they are doing work in a timely manner and focusing; outside the classroom you will support pupils through lunches, which can be the most overwhelming part of the day, engaging them in activities and making the most of the outside apparatus.
Responsibilities:- Ensuring pupils are engaging in all sessions.
- Assisting in personal care tasks as and when required.
- Planning and implementing appropriate techniques to deal with challenging behaviour in pupils where appropriate.
- Participating in relevant training and courses as required.
- Understanding of the development needs of children and those with additional support required.
- A passion for the education sector and helping others.
- Enhanced DBS and registration with the EWC (Teaching Personnel can help you acquire this).
- Two standard references.
- Level 2 Safeguarding.
- Documentation required to be supported by the employer.
- All pay rates quoted are inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
