About Oxleas: Oxleas offers a wide range of NHS health services across the community and secure environment settings, including district nursing, speech and language therapy, care for people with learning disabilities, mental health care and more. We serve 4,300 staff in hospitals, clinics, prisons, secure hospitals, schools and private homes throughout the South of England, including London boroughs of Bexley, Bromley and Greenwich, as well as Kent, Devon, Dorset, Bristol, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the delivery of high quality nursing care to patients in prison under the support of a registered nurse.
- Provide physical care according to a written care plan, including taking blood pressures, ECGs, observing vital signs and caring for wounds.
- Engage patients holistically, addressing physical, psychological, emotional, social and spiritual needs.
- Promote health and well-being through health promotion activities, programmes and patient self-help initiatives.
- Contribute to risk assessment and individualised care planning.
- Assist with medication rounds, be a second checker and assist in emergency call-outs and procedures.
- Order and maintain stock, keep treatment rooms clean and tidy, and ensure appropriate escalation to registered healthcare professionals.
Clinical Duties:
- Carry out ECGs, phlebotomy, basic wound care and monitoring using NEWS2.
- Assess patients using NEWS2 and participate in emergency interventions when required.
- Provide continuous observation and basic nursing support under the direction of a registered nurse.
Custodial Responsibilities:
- Maintain personal security of issued keys and comply with prison orders and procedures.
- Respond to any situation indicating a threat to security or safety, completing appropriate reports (incident, security, injury, etc.).
- Report breaches of order and discipline and record untoward incidents as per local protocol.
- Contribute to effective risk assessment and management procedures.
