The Patch Associate GP Dean will assist and work with the Primary Care Dean and the Heads of School for General Practice to ensure the delivery of safe and compassionate care to patients through the delivery of high‑quality GP specialty training.
Responsibilities include:
- Local responsibility for the coordination, provision and management of postgraduate general practice training activities within the BNSSG GP training programme geographical footprint.
- Overseeing placement and recruitment issues, developing wider placements and capacity to support GP expansion.
- Taking on an additional portfolio responsibility for SW liaising with foundation school/programme.
- Formulating strategy, managing and overseeing local education budgets and leadership activities within the School of Primary Care, and line‑managing TPDs.
- Working with Educational and Clinical Supervisors to support and help them provide good‑quality supervision and education for trainees.
- Holding responsibilities with respect to the wider primary care workforce, supporting the development of the Primary Care workforce in BNSSG.
- Being part of the extended Senior GP educator team and participating in the approval process for Trainers and Practices within the Southwest, while supporting delivery of both central and local ARCP panels.
- Working closely with the Head of Schools, other Associate Deans, Training Programme Directors, Patch administrators/managers and Directors of Medical Education, and the Primary Care Dean.
- Delivering and overseeing projects and workstreams to support doctors in training and educators, including induction, one‑to‑one support, small group work, and serving as an escalation point for both educators and DiTs.
