Responsibilities

  • Enforce food standards legislation by inspection, investigation, sampling and other means at trading premises across Gloucestershire.
  • Investigate offences under regulatory legislation and take appropriate action under the Enforcement Policy, including conducting interviews in accordance with PACE 1984 and all other relevant legislation.
  • Collect evidence and prepare case reports for possible prosecution in accordance with policy and attend legal proceedings, where necessary, on behalf of the Client.
  • Undertake sampling of goods and services to determine whether breaches of trading standards legislation are occurring, and take appropriate action under the Client’s Enforcement Policy.
  • Advise businesses and traders of their legal obligations relating to trading standards legislation.
  • Maintain proper records for all work undertaken.
  • Undertake enforcement activities flexibly to match the trading times of businesses.
  • Ensure personal development in respect of all relevant legislation and implement any changes swiftly and efficiently.
  • Behave according to the Employees’ Codes of Conduct and fulfil obligations regarding conflicts of interest, gifts, hospitality and other matters covered by the Codes.
  • Perform any other duties of a similar nature related to this post that may be required from time‑to‑time.

Employment Details

  • Full‑time role on a temporary contract basis.
  • Pay: £45 per hour, PAYE.
