Seeking a wonderful self‑employed carer to support my sister, 40 years old with very severe ME in Frome, Somerset. She is completely bed‑bound (in a hospital bed) with very limited mobility. We are looking for someone to take on either Saturdays or Mondays from 9:15am – 9:30pm and/or a 2 hour shift on Thursday evening (5:30pm – 7:30pm). Additional shifts (including overnight shifts) may be possible to cover sickness/holiday for other carers (she currently has 4 other carers). Due to the severity of her fatigue, the role will start with a 3 hr shift and gradually increase. For this reason, we are looking for carers reasonably local to Frome.

All aspects of personal care including:

  • Toileting from the bed using urine bottle/inco mats
  • Manual handling
  • Administering medication (orally)
  • Meal preparation and spoon feeding
  • Light domestic tasks

There are no cognitive issues; however, communication is limited due to the severity of her fatigue. We are looking for someone with a positive, can‑do attitude, plenty of energy, empathic and very patient. It is crucial that the carer has previous experience of working with bed‑bound clients and experience of using slide sheets is beneficial. One of the few joys in Natasha's life currently is food, so we are looking for someone that enjoys cooking and is a creative cook.
