Acorn by Synergie are recruiting for an Estimator / Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established and rapidly growing steel fabrication specialist delivering complex projects across the UK. Based in North Wales, the purpose of the role is to prepare accurate and competitive estimates for structural steel and bespoke fabrication projects while supporting the commercial management of projects from tender through to delivery.

Key Duties

  • Compile competitive project costings for structural and custom metalwork packages.
  • Review technical drawings, project documentation and digital models to assess materials, labour and external service requirements.
  • Prepare commercial proposals, quantified take-offs and pricing documentation for client submissions.
  • Source and negotiate pricing with suppliers and specialist contractors.
  • Explore cost-saving solutions and alternative methods to strengthen tender competitiveness.
  • Support financial forecasting, budgeting and commercial tracking across live projects.
  • Assist with contractual reviews and help identify potential commercial exposures.
  • Track project spend, amendments and scope changes throughout delivery phases.
  • Produce valuation documentation, financial summaries and account reconciliations.
  • Partner with operational teams to maintain commercial consistency from enquiry stage through to completion.
  • Collaborate with design, manufacturing and installation teams to ensure practical and achievable project costing.
  • Participate in customer meetings, pre-contract discussions and occasional site visits.

Requirements

  • Previous experience within estimating, quantity surveying or a similar commercial role within construction or steel fabrication environments.
  • Strong technical understanding of fabrication methods and materials.
  • Confident interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Good working knowledge of estimating systems.
