Teaching Personnel are seeking to appoint a SEN Support Assistant to support pupils within a welcoming and inclusive primary school in the BL4 area. This part‑time role will begin in September and is expected to continue throughout the academic year.
About the Role
You will be working within the school's SEN provision, supporting pupils in Key Stage 2 through a mix of 1:1 support and small‑group interventions. Pupils may present with a range of additional needs, including social, emotional, and learning‑based needs. Your role will be to help them engage positively with learning, develop confidence, and make meaningful progress.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing 1:1 support tailored to individual pupil needs
- Supporting or leading small‑group interventions within the SEN provision
- Using structured routines, visual aids, and clear expectations
- Helping pupils stay regulated, focused, and ready to learn
- Modelling positive behaviour and implementing SEN strategies under SENCO guidance
- Working collaboratively with class teachers, SENCO, and support staff
- Contributing to observations and basic progress monitoring
The Ideal Candidate Will Be
- Experienced in supporting children or young people with additional needs (school‑based or transferable experience welcomed)
- Calm, patient, and able to maintain a consistent approach
- Confident adapting tasks to suit different learning styles and abilities
- Skilled at building positive and trusting relationships with pupils
- Reliable, proactive, and committed to supporting pupil development
