Overview
We are working in partnership with a well-established and growing manufacturing business within the plastics and extrusion sector, currently seeking experienced Extrusion Setters to support increased production demand. This is an excellent opportunity for skilled extrusion professionals looking for either a stable days-based role with long weekends or a rotating shift pattern with enhanced earning potential.
As an Extrusion Setter, you will be responsible for setting, operating, and maintaining crosshead extrusion production lines, ensuring efficient output, high-quality standards, and minimal downtime. You will play a key role in preparing production runs, monitoring quality, and making necessary adjustments to maintain smooth operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Setting and operating crosshead extrusion machinery.
- Preparing and setting up production lines for scheduled runs.
- Running and supporting full extrusion production processes.
- Packing and assisting with production output where required.
- Monitoring product quality and consistency throughout runs.
- Troubleshooting and adjusting machines during production.
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient working environment.
Required Experience
To be successful in this role, you must have hands-on extrusion setting experience in a relevant manufacturing environment.
Essential experience:
- Co-extrusion experience; wire coating or hose/pipe extrusion background; strong materials knowledge including: PVC, polyurethane, Megalon, nylon.
- Previous experience as a Setter (not operator level only); experience setting up and running full production lines.
Important: Blown film extrusion experience alone will not be suitable for this role.
Shift Options
- Day role (Monday – Thursday 6:00am-6:00pm or 7:00am-7:00pm). 48 hours per week. Long weekends every week.
- Rotating shift role (39 hours per week) – Weeks 1–2: Monday–Wednesday 6am–6pm Thursday 6am–12pm; Weeks 3–4: Monday–Wednesday 6pm–6am. Shift allowance: 22% rotating shifts, 25% nights.
