The Practice

This is a progressive, independent small animal practice with a strong reputation for delivering outstanding clinical care. The 9-vet team includes multiple certificate holders across medicine, cardiology, and surgery, and the practice also provides a small referral service to surrounding clinics. A visiting CT and MRI scanner enhances in-house advanced imaging, ensuring a wide and exciting caseload. The purpose-built, refurbished premises feature excellent facilities in a green and spacious setting.

The Role

An opportunity has arisen for a Veterinary Surgeon to join this well-established team. The role offers a varied caseload with opportunities to work up cases to a high standard, while enjoying genuine clinical freedom. Collaboration is strongly encouraged, with senior colleagues on hand for case discussions and support. For those wishing to develop a clinical interest, full backing is provided, and certificates are both supported and funded.

The Rota

  • Full-time vets work a 4-day week
  • Equal share of operating and consulting shifts, ensuring balanced caseload and surgical exposure
  • 1:6 on-call rota with RVN support and senior vet backup if needed
  • Saturday morning consults on rota only (no additional Saturdays)
  • Admin time built into the day, with proper lunch breaks and punctual finishes

Location

Based in an attractive market town, the practice is well connected by road and rail, with easy access to Birmingham, Manchester, and London. The surrounding countryside offers fantastic leisure opportunities, including Cannock Chase and the Peak District within reach.
