The Role:

Reporting into the sales function, you will play a key role in supporting customer project enquiries by developing accurate, competitive and technically sound proposals. This is a varied role that combines mechanical engineering expertise with commercial awareness, working closely with sales, engineering and customers throughout the full bid lifecycle.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Review RFQs and interpret customer requirements
  • Develop technical solutions with engineering teams
  • Select equipment and source costs for materials/services
  • Prepare accurate, costed proposals and quotations
  • Ensure bids are delivered on time and within budget
  • Support customer meetings, contract handover, and project coordination
  • Assist with sales admin and identify new opportunities

Essential criteria:

  • 5 years' experience in proposals/tendering or sales engineering
  • Mechanical engineering qualification or equivalent experience
  • Background in heavy/complex engineered systems or machine build
  • Experience producing technical, costed proposals
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and commercial awareness
  • Proficient in MS Office; familiarity with AutoCAD/Inventor preferred
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and customer-focused
