Full-Time No working from home possible

Overview

We are looking for an Engagement Worker to join our friendly community team in Manchester Powerhouse. You will become part of a team that provides careers advice and guidance to 16–18‑year‑olds who are not in education, employment or training. In this varied and rewarding role you will contact and engage young people who may have dropped out of education or work.

Responsibilities

You will work alongside other members of your team to reach out to young people in the community, often through home‑visits (in pairs) and follow‑up phone calls. You will contact disengaged young people or their parents/carers through various channels, so excellent communication skills are essential. You will play a vital role in helping us to connect with young people who may need our support, building meaningful relationships and empowering them to plan their futures.

In this role you will:

  • Explore pathways such as employment, education, training and building personal and social skills through new experiences, volunteering or short programmes.
  • Help link young people up to wellbeing and mental health support when required.
  • Assist young people in understanding their own skills and strengths, overcoming personal barriers and creating a better future for themselves.

Qualifications

You don’t need to be qualified in Careers Guidance for this role, but we are looking for people with some experience of helping others and at least 5 GCSEs or an equivalent level qualification.

Location

You will have a base at our office in Powerhouse, Manchester, but you will work primarily in venues across the community. You need to be able to manage your time well and travel independently because this is not a home‑based role.

Support and Training

We offer full training and induction to enable you to settle into the role, and a friendly, supportive work environment with colleagues who genuinely care about the work we do and the communities that we support.

Equal Opportunities

Proud member of the Disability Confident employer scheme.
