The Endoscopy Unit is a very busy department and the successful candidate will work within the decontamination unit processing endoscopes and ensuring all equipment is ready for the daily lists.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting the Registered Nurse and Endoscopist during endoscopic procedures and in the recovery area.
  • Assisting with the preparation and discharge of patients undergoing endoscopic procedures under the guidance of the Registered Nurse/Endoscopy Assistant Practitioner.
  • Preparation of the endoscopy room and recovery area.
  • Assisting the Endoscopy Assistant Practitioner/Endoscopist in diagnostic procedures once trained/educated and competent, following standard procedures.
  • Assisting the Registered Nurse/Endoscopist in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures once trained/educated and competent, following standard procedures.
  • Positioning of patients during endoscopic procedures.
  • Airway management during endoscopic procedures once trained/educated and competent, following standard procedures.
  • Monitoring and recording of patient observations during endoscopic procedures and alerting senior staff to any problems.
  • Preparation of endoscopic equipment prior to and during endoscopic procedures.
