We are seeking an enthusiastic, passionate and motivated individual to join our Occupational Therapy Rehabilitation and Relapse Prevention team as a Senior Therapy Assistant within a developing community service. In this role you will support the Occupational Therapist in delivering person‑centred interventions, providing feedback on service users and carers, and contributing to a client‑focused approach where individual needs shape care. You will engage service users in a range of therapeutic activities – psychoeducation, cooking, shopping, social eating, and relaxation – delivered both in groups and one‑to‑one, face‑to‑face or virtually. The role involves working in the PARALEL team office and within local community settings. Driving is essential.
Responsibilities
- Plan and prepare interventions and remain flexible to meet service user preferences.
- Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation.
- Manage a defined group of patients discharged from Oaktrees Specialist Eating Disorder Service (SEDU) for a 16‑week period.
- Implement interventions following triage and assessment by a qualified therapist.
- Assess progression of a person‑centred treatment plan and evaluate treatment outcomes.
- Provide feedback to qualified therapists as appropriate.
- Support the assessment and treatment in activities of daily living, leisure pursuits, educational and vocational aspirations, social inclusion and nutrition.
- Use positive co‑production to facilitate a person‑centred recovery journey.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience or strong knowledge of eating disorders and mental health conditions.
- Good understanding of occupational therapy principles.
- Excellent self‑management, organisational, and communication skills.
- Capacity to work autonomously with direction from senior staff.
- Desire to work in a developing, new service within a supportive team environment.
