Location: St Helens

Work pattern: 24 hours per week, working two days to include every other weekend

Salary: Up to £16,418.06 per year

About the centre: The UK’s largest cat welfare charity. Our adoption and homing centres care for thousands of cats each year until they find a loving new home.

Responsibilities:

  • Carry out cleaning of cat pens and litter trays in the various sections of the centre
  • Feed and care for cats requiring additional medical or behavioural treatment, including handling
  • Present a professional and friendly image to customers and visitors
  • Assist with veterinary runs, which may include driving the Cats Protection vehicle off‑site
  • Work with volunteers to coach and guide them on cat care duties
  • Support scheduling and preparation of rehoming information, viewings, and adoption of cats in care

Qualifications:

  • A full, manual driving licence (mandatory for driving centre vans)
  • Excellent communication skills and strong empathy
  • Excellent customer service experience dealing with members of the public
  • Experience of animal welfare, including feeding, cleaning, medicating and handling, with a high level of understanding of cat welfare needs
  • Resilience to cope with potentially distressing and emotional situations
  • Positive attitude and ability to work well as part of a team
  • Understanding of health and safety and comfort with manual handling tasks
