Join our four-year Electrical Engineering degree apprenticeship at National Highways. You will complete a Level 6 degree apprenticeship in Electrical Engineering, with the aim of Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status with the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). Location: Bristol. Programme start date: September 2026.

What You’ll Do

  • Be mentored by experienced engineers to develop skills in electrical systems design, maintenance and sustainability, applying knowledge both in the office and on site.
  • Complete a Level 6 degree apprenticeship in Electrical Engineering, setting you up for a career that shapes the future.
  • Contribute to projects ranging from lighting and traffic signals to innovative solutions that support a sustainable digital future on our roads.

Eligibility

  • Hold (or will achieve before September 2026) a minimum of five GCSEs including English, Maths and a Science, Technology or Engineering-related subject at grade C/grade 4 or above.
  • Plus one of the following: A Levels at grade C or above in Maths or Science, Technology or Engineering-based subjects; or 90 credits in an Engineering BTEC at level 3; or the ability to attend a 4-day induction from 7–10 September 2026.
  • Hold an unrestricted Right to Work in the UK for the full duration of the programme.

Due to the salary level of this role, sponsorship cannot be offered for individuals who do not have the Right to Work in the UK. Assessment Centres will run in May 2026 (June 2026, and you’ll hear back soon after about whether you’ve secured a place). All offers to the programme are subject to satisfactory completion of pre-employment checks, including Right to Work, references, and DBS checks.
