Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Locum Consultant ENT Surgeon to join our elective services team. This role focuses on delivering high-quality outpatient and surgical ENT care within a streamlined elective pathway, supporting improved patient flow and excellent clinical outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide consultant-led ENT outpatient clinics for new and follow-up patients.
  • Deliver accurate diagnosis, treatment planning, and patient counselling.
  • Ensure high standards of clinical documentation and informed consent.
  • Manage post-operative reviews and ongoing patient care.
  • Undertake planned ENT procedures, including: Septoplasty (with or without turbinate reduction), Tonsillectomy, Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS).
  • Conduct pre-operative assessments and optimise patient pathways.
  • Provide safe post-operative care and follow-up planning.
  • Contribute to efficient elective theatre and clinic scheduling.
  • Support initiatives to improve patient flow and reduce waiting times.
  • Work within established clinical pathways and service protocols.
  • Maintain flexibility to meet service requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical records.
  • Adhere to clinical governance, safeguarding, and patient safety standards.
  • Participate in audit and quality improvement activities.
  • Comply with organisational and regulatory requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Full GMC registration with licence to practise.
  • Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register for ENT (or within 6 months of eligibility).
  • Substantial experience in elective ENT practice.
  • Proven competence in FESS, septoplasty, and tonsillectomy.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to high-quality, patient-centred care.

  • Experience in independent healthcare or high-volume elective services.
